Since my first visit to Japan in 2001, I’ve had the opportunity to travel to this country several times, to live for a period of six months with a Japanese family, to study the language right at their home, and to satisfy my curiosity by finding answers to all the questions about Japan’s quirks or wonders.
Since 2008, I’ve been running the Free Spirit Travel tourism agency alongside my associate, Oana Pricop. The experience accumulated over 13 years in organizing trips worldwide,
hosting exclusive events, and creating unique tourist programs like Transylvania Train, now enables me to pay attention to the smallest details of an itinerary and to view your journey as a project-event, which probably happens only once in a lifetime.
I have travelled to over 50 countries with a backpack on my back or with select groups, staying in ordinary people’s homes as well as luxury hotels. From all these experiences, I have learned something very important, the thing that I try to pass on to Free Spirit travellers: Discover the planet, rediscover yourself!
In Japan, I have travelled at least once a year since my first trip in 2001. I have guided groups to major tourist attractions, but I have also explored less beaten paths. I have spent a significant part of my life travelling in Japan, both through physical, real journeys, and through thousands of hours of research and reading about this country and culture that I love. For me, Japan is a journey towards myself, as our slogan says, “Discover Japan, rediscover yourself!”
